(This clock is about 25 years old. It didn't come with the squirrels. Hubby found two wooden squirrels in the store, painted them brown, and put them on top of the clock.)
Father
Time is not always a hard parent, and, though he tarries for none of
his children, often lays his hand lightly upon those who have used him
well; making them old men and women inexorably enough, but leaving their
hearts and spirits young and in full vigour. With such people the grey
head is but the impression of the old fellow's hand in giving them his
blessing, and every wrinkle but a notch in the quiet calendar of a
well-spent life.

Nice thought. Father Time has smacked me in the head, rather than touched me lightly (or it feels like it some mornings). Love the squirrel additions to the clock.
ReplyDeleteSome thoughtful words to ponder. My nana (grandmother) used to have a genuine grandfather clock that my dad had sent to her when he was stationed in Germany while he served in the Army years ago. She had that clock working until the day she died!
ReplyDeleteI liked your quote about Father Time very much. Father time has been good to me, except for kicking me in my knees. In my head and heart I have plenty of vigor, but unfortunately my arthritic knees don't.
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty clock. I love the hand carving, and the squirrels are cute there.
I love the squirrels!
ReplyDeleteI like the words!! Things to think about!
Big Hugs!
