Friday Roundup

Happy Friday.  I had a pretty good week despite a couple setbacks.   On Monday I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Food for Life class was still being held.  The agency found some extra money to hire the intern at least until July.  Then, if they can come up with more funding, they will hire her permanently.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  I really like her.

One positive note on Monday.  It was the first time in a long while that I was able to go without my back brace.  Pain was at a minimum, and I felt so good.

On Tuesday I had wanted to attend a Sciatica lecture, but noisy neighbors interfered with sleep, and I just wasn't up to going out.  Took a nice long nap in the afternoon.  But first I made a huge pot of veggie and bean soup.

Carrots, celery, a package of fresh mixed veggies, lots of chopped onion, 1 can of diced tomatoes with green chilies for a little spiciness, 5 packets of no sodium chicken broth, garlic powder, parsley, oregano, bay leaf, and black pepper.

On Wednesday I had to wear the back brace again.  I told hubby that I am going to cherish each day that I have a let up of pain.  It's not easy waking up and going to bed with pain.  But I keep myself going because I have to.  The busier I keep myself the less I concentrate on the pain.

Mindfulness class was awesome again.  I absolutely love that quiet time.  As with the first time, after the Reiki, the ringing in my ears was less.  Another thing I cherish.  Those days when the ringing is low.

Sadly, I came home Wednesday feeling fine, but within two hours found myself doubled over with stomach cramps and running to the bathroom.  By the time I went to bed, everything was cleaned out of me.

When I went to my WW workshop on Thursday, all I had in my tummy was one slice of dry toast.  Really thought I would do well on the scale, maybe even back under goal, but I only took off .2 pounds.  Still have 1.4 pounds to go to get to goal.  I'd best do it next week because after that, they are going to charge me for the etools as well.  Grrr!!!  This maintenance stage is so much harder than the weight loss stage.  I think it's because when I was losing I had a goal to look forward to.  Now the only goal with maintenance IS maintenance.  Does that make sense?

Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. It's going to be dinner next week. That, and the lentil soup I made.

  2. It is so much easier to lose the weight because we are goal oriented, the maintenance, though, is far tougher.

    1. Exactly. And I'm not alone in having problems with maintenance stage. I hear it all the time at the meetings. Pity is, meetings are geared to those working towards goal. We need something for the maintenance stage as well.

  3. Yes, it makes sense, your soup sounds great too *smiles* thank you for visiting and for your words, this is an interesting life, indeed. I wish you soothing energy for the pain you're suffering, I don't (yet) know your story, but I look forward to getting to know you, happy weekend.

    1. It's now getting hot out and this brace really makes my belly sweat. Not a good feeling. Hoping the warmth will bring more relief.

    1. You have a great weekend as well. I have my brace on again. It's going to be miserable if I have wear this in the summer.

  6. It’s easier to lose because you have an end goal and a challenge. Maintaining is just no him every day life....no big challenge. But in reality it’s the biggest challenge!

    1. Exactly. That's how I feel. I try to use not having to pay anymore as a goal now, but it's not the same thing.
