Thursday This and That

Painted this for hubby when I was attending art class a few years ago.  Hubby just love Betty Boop.  If she were real, I'd be very jealous.

I love the clock building at Brooklyn College.  It makes such a pretty picture.

These were my turtles at work.  One of my client brought them in (they had been his) and left them with me.  I never knew how smart turtle could be until I met these three.  (The third is smaller and not visible).  They sure did know me.  They'd go nuts when they saw me, only me.  Everyone got such a kick out of it.

This was at the old senior center I went to a few years back.  I didn't find it a very happy place.  All they wanted to do was play bingo and cards, gossip about each other, and fight over chairs.  And the food was horrible to boot.  I came home and told hubby this place was making me old.  After I stopped going, I started going to the Lifelong Learning classes at Brooklyn College.

My spice box.  Smelled so good.  I love Indian food.

A couple years back when I was still blonde.  I'm feeling like I would like to be blonde again, but it's hard to get there from red.

This was my first haircut from my favorite hair stylist.  Actually she owns the salon now.  That is her standing behind me.  She is so good, and I'm so spoiled.

This is me and two of my sons.

 Some of my crystals.

More crystals.

My mom and me when I was three years old.  Happy times.

    1. I agree. My natural color is a dark auburn (if I recall correctly) and for over 40 years I was a blonde. Sometimes I just miss it, but you are right. The reason I added the red tones was that my skin was looking so washed out with the blonde.

    1. Thanks, Holli. I've been collecting crystals for a few years now. Took a course on crystal healing and got addicted to buying them. I just gave a lot of them away.

Oh how I love those crystals! They are so beautiful!
You have a lovely family. I love when you share photos of all of you smiling and enjoying being together.
Those turtles take me right back to my childhood. I always had some as pets. So cute that they recognized you :)
I like your hair color but blond looks great on you, too!
    Have a beautiful day 🌞🐦💮

    1. Thank you Jan. I never had turtles when I was young, so this was all new to me. I loved them and hated to say good bye when I left, but I couldn't take them with me.

    1. Oh that clock building is so awesome. That entire building is a library. Every floor is loaded with books.

  6. Your crystals are beautiful. You've inspired me to gather mine (nothing like the beautiful collection that you have) and display them all together. My grandson is 9 and has started collecting rocks. I plan on giving him some of my crystals. Recently I gave him one of my arrowheads I found when I was about his age. He was thrilled with it.

Your turtles brought back so many good memories to me. I had them throughout most of my childhood. They really do get to know their owners. One time when I was really young, maybe 4 or 5 years old, I had a doctor appointment. Back then (1959) my mom dressed me up to go to the doctor. I had on a dress with a fluffy, itchy petticoat, my little black patent leather shoes and ruffle socks. I also carried a little black patent shiny purse. My mom was surprised when I opened up my purse and brought out my little green turtle to show Dr. Haines. The doctor got such a kick out of it. I was so proud of my turtle. These days I guess I would have gotten a warning about salmonella, but that old-time doctor held my turtle and laughed about it.

  7. I have been thinking of changing my color of my hair...but I was having issues with the color in my hair and my hair not being healthy...so I stopped (now I’m a mix of gray/silver and dark blonde).
