Saturday Thought of the Day

The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.

Robert Louis Stevenson

    1. Exactly, like my days in the park. I don't spend anything aside from bus fare, but it's the best feeling climbing that hill and looking down on the water.

  2. Beautiful rose and an even more beautiful quote! There are times in our lives when we all need to just "stop and smell the roses!" ;)

    1. Retirement has helped me with that. When I was working it was all rush, rush, rush, but that's how the city is. Everybody rushing to get to work. I don't have to rush anymore....although I will say it was a bad habit to break.

  3. It is lovely having the time to see the roses isn't it? To see and smell them. While I was working I am not sure I even saw them very often...

    1. Same here. It was such a hassle getting to work, rushing, fighting crowds. The city during the morning rush is maddening.
