This is how they sell fish in my neighborhood. And stink? This is right out on the sidewalk in the hot sun. It turns my stomach. I would NEVER buy it. And this isn't even the worst of it. There's a guy buy the train station who puts his daily catch on a pile of newspapers right on the ground, and people shove and push each other to buy it.
I'm with you, Mary. Open-air fish markets have NEVER been my favourite place. The smell turns my stomach too.
ReplyDeleteOther than the fact that I can not stand the smell of fish, raw or cooked, all I can say is EWW! LOL! Even if I did like fishy fish, I would NEVER buy it like THAT!
ReplyDeleteEeeeuw. And sadly it made me think of butchered lamb we saw in India and Nepal. Plonked down on the pavement.
ReplyDeleteFruit/vegie/spice markets outside I love. Meat/fish? Nooooooo.
I have some vague memories of the fish market down at South Street Seaport. And somewhere down there, there was a pickle market if I recall. The pickle place was my favorite place to go. Then there was the chicken market on Meeker Ave by the BQE. I loved to see the chickens and ducks and such, but HO BOY! did it stink LOL.
ReplyDeleteLittle did I know, 40 some odd years later I'd have chickens and ducks where I live LOL.
Doesn’t look safe nor sanitary! No way!!!
ReplyDeleteYucky!! No thank you!!!
