Friday Roundup

Friday morning of a long weekend.  Actually, I'm going to miss getting to the center on Monday, but I'll find something to keep me busy.  Will pick up the ingredients to make the humus we made in healthy cooking class this week.  Wish I had thought to get a picture of it, but here is the recipe:

Chickpeas, parsley, lemon, 1 clove garlic, olive oil, granulated garlic, onion powder, turmeric, and curry powder.  Spice up as you like it.  Delicious.  Believe it or not, my first time having humus, and I am definitely going to make this at home.  I am always looking for healthy snacks.

I'm reading a book about keeping arthritis at bay naturally and one thing they mentioned was flaxseed and fish oils. Now, I know they are very anti--inflammatory, but I have never been able to take them. Triggers my IBS-D.  So, I did some research on Krill Oil and decided to give that a try. I had taken it a few years back with no issues.  Fortunately Ralph already takes it so I was able to take one of his to see what happened before ordering on my own.   Good thing I did. It's true that our bodies, including our digestive abilities, change over time. Won't waste my money. One pill and my tummy was all over the place. So I headed back to bed.

Nevertheless, it is a great book with lots of awesome information.  I highly recommend it to anyone who suffers chronic pain.

Had another crazy dream.  I walked in the door and hubby says "Grab your bag. We're headed for the airport." Turns out he had airline tickets to go to Italy. Told me we didn't need any suitcases. We'd buy clothes when we got there...despite the fact that we didn't have any money.  But we never got to Italy.  In fact, we never left the airport. I wandered around the airport buying all kinds of crazy items such as a wee brush for my hair for $4, a handful of Halloween sized candy bars, a big plastic see through bag (the kind you get when you buy a bedspread set). I also made several trips to the bathroom, one to take a shower.  I also ran around telling everyone how afraid I was to get on the plane. but the funny part of it was I couldn't wait to get on the plane so I could update my FB status.

Have an awesome fun-filled weekend.

  1. Hummus is yummy every once in a while -- very healthy too, loaded with protein because of those chickpeas. And yes, what a crazy dream -- kind of fun!

  2. That was a good idea to try the krill oil out to see if it agreed with your stomach before buying some.

Isn't it interesting the way our brains create such strange dreams. I have to be careful what is on tv if I am feeling sleepy like I might doze off in the recliner. If my husband comes in and turns on some of the shows he likes, the music and stuff going on in his shows causes me to have nightmares that are similar to, or sometimes more ugly than what was on the tv. The sounds and music from those shows seem to register in some part of my brain. I told my husband to please not turn those shows on if I have fallen asleep in the recliner. He finally stopped doing that when I had such a bad nightmare that I woke up crying and shaking and afraid, while the weird music from the show was still playing. We made an agreement that I will stay awake and read blogs or do something on the computer while he watches the shows that creep me out.
We have had one of those cozy cool Fall evenings while the rain was pouring down outside. I like rainy Fall nights when my big clock is ticking and my little dog, Fuzzy,is in his doggy bed snoring. It is supposed to be in the 50's and 60's today and on the weekend, and I'm going to be cooking roast beef and baked potatoes in the oven, which I haven't done since last spring before it got hot.

    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. I am so glad the weather is getting cooler. I already was able to bake some cheddar cheese biscuits. My kitchen is so small it's impossible to bake in the summer.

  3. I really enjoyed hearing about your dream. So interesting that everyone seems to be having crazy and bizarre dreams at present, including me (when I can get to sleep at all!).
Yes, you do have to be careful when taking supplements. I remember my friend recommending ginko biloba to help my circulation. I tried it, and...suffered terrible stomach upset, whereas she had suffered no I'll effects at all!

    Have a super weekend!

    1. I do lots of research before taking anything, especially about how it affects blood pressure since mine is high. I have not heard good thinks about ginko lately. Hate seeing you sick, but maybe that happened for a reason.

  6. Sorry about the krill oil.
I tend to dream in conversations rather than images. Yours sound bizzarre and I would love to know what a skilled dream interpeter would make of it.
I do love hummus - and it goes well with a lot of things.

  7. Each individual has a different reaction to drugs. Looking for sometime that works and doesn’t have bad after-effects can be a long journey.

  8. Dreams do have hidden meanings at times. Some dreams actually tell us things we don't want to think about, like our fears in everyday life.
It is a good thing that you didn't rush out and buy something you weren't sure would suit your needs.
    Take care and Happy Sunday~

    1. You are right. Dreams do have hidden meanings. I used to be able to decipher the meanings, but lately they all seem to deal with something in my past.

  9. Always nice to know others also have odd dreams. Hopefully the long weekend will not be interrupted by building shaking machinery.
