Good Monday morning. It's a holiday for many. President's Day. Used to love these long weekends while I was working. To make them even longer, I always requested a personal or a vacation day the Friday before so I'd have a 4 day weekend.
Forgot to show you this on Friday.
Take a look at my feet. This is how I went to WW on Thursday. Never grab your shoes in the dark, and always check your feet before you leave the house.
Went to the doctor on Saturday. Didn't expect much more than a referral to an ENT, and that's exactly what I got. Used to be that a GP handled just about everything. Now everything is referred off to a specialist. Gosh, I missed my calling. Should have been a GP. Nothing really to do.
On a plus side, Hibiscus tea works wonders for blood pressure. Drank a cup about an hour before my appointment, and my blood pressure was the lowest I've ever seen it--110 over 65. Have to watch and make sure it doesn't go too low.
Took a picture of this money tree in my doctor's office. This is what mine would have been had hubby not decided that he knew more than I about growing a plant.
Was sitting there watching television Saturday night, and someone said something that triggered a memory which, in turn, triggered a memory for me. It was a scene on the Gilmore Girls when Loralie and Christopher were visiting Yale and Chris overheard a few fathers talking about how they had been doing things to help their children throughout their school years. Reminded me of the time I decided to help my son with the science fair so I build a simple telegraph machine. The battery the project called for was a special battery and it was huge. We built the machine, and lo and behold, it worked. We were able to tap out the Morse Code on one side and see the other side receive it. Awesome.
So, on the day of the judging my son came home empty handed, without his project....which on previous occasions meant that he had won a prize. Oh, I was so excited when I saw him. It was then that he told me they kept his project not because he had won, but because it had blown up. Needless to say, I never worked on another science project. Thankfully it blew up when no one was near it.
Hubby and I went to Olive Garden last night. Ate very healthy.
I always do the build your own pasta because that seems to have the lowest sodium level. Whole grain linguini with traditional meat sauce topped with garden veggies. I can't believe how much food they gave me. Could barely even eat half of it. I
always check online before I got to see what I am going to eat. I check
for WW points, but more importantly sodium levels. Olive Garden food,
delicious as it is, has extremely high sodium levels in its food, not
good when one has high blood pressure. The dish I chose was not only
healthy, but so delicious.
Have a good one.
I had to chuckle at the science project blowing up!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteJust not very scientifically oriented. I had almost forgotten that until the other night.
DeleteThank you so much for sharing the shoe photo :) You made my day start with a smile!
ReplyDeleteLove that money tree plant. To bad hubby's green thumb isn't working as well as yours.
I feel so bad for you and your son but at least no one was hurt.
Congrats on the blood pressure but do be careful.
Have a great day 💮💮💮
I never mess around with my blood pressure for sure. Before I buy anything I also check sodium levels.
DeleteYes, really made me smile knowingly too...I have also done the shoe thing - more than once!! Lol
ReplyDeleteThat money tree is beautiful, isn't it? I haven't seen one before.
And your dinner looks so tasty (says she who has just eaten pie and chips! Lol). 😉
Really must try and eat more healthily...
Such a pity about that science project...I bet it would have won a prize if that hadn't happened! Still, hopefully next time...😊😊
Thank you so much for your visit to my blog, and your lovely comment. I so appreciate both!😊
Have a great day!
Hugs
Oh believe me, my dinner wasn't all healthy. Forgot to mention the Brownie Lasagna cake I came home with.
DeleteThe science project may have blown up but you give him a memory that will last a lifetime..."hey Mom, remember that year your science project blew up?" The Olive Garden dinner looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI think he has forgotten about too. Time for a reminder.
DeleteYour pasta dish looks so very yummy! I had to smile at your shoes pic ... done that as well on rare occasions LOL!
ReplyDeleteI never had off work on these kinds of holidays except when I worked for a bank many, many years ago. :)
I never took vacations, only vacation days. Made these Monday holidays a long weekend. Messed me up in the end though. When I retired I was able to get 5 weeks of vacation time, but lost out on about 4 weeks plus about 5 weeks of sick time. I was a workaholic.
DeleteThat science fair story is a classic! LOL! Good thing no one was hurt though.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am so glad no one nearby. Could have been serious.
DeleteI want that money tree!!! I have never heard of that type and I've got to go to my nursery soon and see if they have one.
ReplyDeleteI have also worn 2 different shoes on a couple of occasions. So easy to do when dressing in the dark.
Too bad about the science fair project- sounds like a winner for sure if it hadn't blown up.
It is a beautiful tree. I bought mine when it was very small. They are very easy to grow.
DeleteYour shoes picture made me smile :)
ReplyDeleteWith regard to your tinnitus, at least you have a referral to ENT, it's a step in the right direction … and that's what our GP's would do to!
Wishing you a good week ahead.
All the best Jan
Just knowing what caused the tinnitus would put me more at ease.
DeleteYou just reminded me of the time I went to work wearing two different shoes. LOL.
ReplyDeleteHey Mary, I had a good laugh about your shoes and the science fair project! LOL! Thank you!
