Hump Day Ramble

Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom
and pain of it no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way
to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments
are key moments, and life itself is grace.

Frederick Buechner

Good morning, everyone. Met with my new endocrinologist yesterday.  The good news is that, according to the blood work, my thyroid is stable, and she has stopped my medication.  If the palpitations should begin again, she will put me on a beta blocker.  She also said that I am pre-diabetic, but with proper diet and lifestyle, I won't need any medication for it.

More good news is that I haven't had any palpitations in four days, and my blood pressure has been consistently normal. The bad news is that I still don't have any answers.  Perhaps the worst is over, but I sure would like to know.  I feel like I am walking on egg shells every day, just waiting for something to happen.  I just want to get on with my life.

So, today I am off to the center for art class.  I'm still not ready to begin exercising. I am doing everything I can to get myself back to normal.  I eat lots of fruits and veggies, little red meat, and drink lots of water.  I stopped drinking coffee a week ago, and is hasn't bothered me at all.  I was drinking a small glass of 2 percent chocolate milk daily for calcium, but noticed after drinking it, I had bad palpitations which lasted a few days.  So I stopped it, and haven't had a palpitation since.  Hoping it's not the chocolate, but it does seem suspicious.  And chocolate can cause palpitations in some people  Will have to talk about this when I see my doctor.  Thanks again for all your support.

Well, that's it.  Going to jump in the shower and have a little breakfast.  Have a good one.

  1. Glad that the news was good, Mary. There is a lot of controversy lately about the accuracy of thyroid testing by physicians, whose tests often aren't extensive enough. I know several people who have suffered with a thyroid issue even though the tests come back "within normal limits".. There are doctors who will do more specialized testing, so if you don't start to feel better, maybe you will want to research that.

  2. Sounds like things are progressing well! Chocolate can have a tiny bit of caffeine in it -- could that be an issue? Hopefully not.
