TGIF

If there is light in the soul,
there will be beauty in the person.
If there is beauty in the person,
there will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house,
there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.

- Chinese Proverb -

What a special surprise was waiting for me last night when I got home from work. Several weeks ago I had entered  Debra's Debra at She Who Seeks  'Turning of the Wheel Giveaway', and last night, the gift was there waiting for me when I got home. Oh, I am so excited. It's such an exquisite gift, such a beautiful tapestry of the four seasons of the year.  I wish I had a camera, a cell phone photo just doesn't do the trick, but since I don't, so this is the picture from Debra's blog.

Not much planned for this weekend. I really have to recuperate from last weekend. I know the holiday is quickly approaching, but I have little  energy left in me this week. A trip to Rite Aid for some Christmas scents and a stop at the fruit stand is all that is on my agenda. Besides, for the past two days I have been feeling a cold trying to take hold so it will be a weekend of homemade chicken soup and ginger tea to stop it in its tracks. Matter of fact, as I sit here now, throat sore and nose runny, I am debating if I should even go today.

I may, if I feel like it make some Mexican Wedding Cookies.  One of my peers had brought some homemade cookies in that were very similar, and I opened my big mouth about my many years of baking. Now I have been put on the hot seat. Of course, I am looking forward to it. After so many years of not being able to bake, it really will be a pleasure to put the old creative juices back to work.

Hope You will have a special Weekend. See you on Monday.

  1. With that cold, I'd check with your pharmacist, as to what cold meds to take, with the meds you are on.

Living with a pharmacist, I have it easy, keeping over-the-counter meds correct, with my Rx meds. Not everyone is that lucky.

Please... Don't be pushed into any more baking, than feels right! What good will it do you? That's the first question, in my book. -grin- Whether it sounds nice or not....

  2. The Tapestry is exquisite Mary. What a beautiful gift to receive, especially at this time of year.

I am still working on my 3 small trees. Gold and copper ornaments some shiny some with sparkle.

The are balls and cones, stars and butterflies and smaller copper and gold acorns.

Last night I took a taxi over to Zellers which is a Canadian owned department store. I was disappointed to find out it is going out of business after many decades.

Wallmart has put this entire chain of stores out of business. I felt so sorry for the employees because I have known most of them
    for years.

There were more staff in the store than customers and it was eerie. especially at Christmas time.

I bought a few things I did not need but fell in love with on sight. This huge Father Christmas all decked out in copper and gold. He is carrying a wreath in one hand and a Christmas tree in the other. He has a huge bag of gifts in a sack flung over his shoulder.

I wish I had a camera so I could share it with you.

    hugs and love Sharon

  4. I'm glad the tapestry arrived safe and sound! I don't think I've ever had Mexican Wedding Cookies -- I'd be interested in seeing the recipe, if you can share it! I hope that threatening cold bypasses you.

  5. Mexican wedding cakes? One of my fave. cookies of all times, but I agree with a comment above in not pushing yourself if you're not feeling well. There'll be plenty of time to bake this Winter. Rest up and take care of yourself, winter colds can get nasty, even though it's not officially Winter yet.
