TGIF

Oh, how beautiful is the summer night, which is not night, but a sunless,
yet unclouded, day, descending upon earth with dews and shadows and
refreshing coolness! How beautiful the long mild twilight, which,
like a silver clasp, unites today with yesterday!

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

As Friday rolls around I sit this morning and reflect on how fast this week passed by. The weeks are passing by so quickly now that I hardly have time to stop and take a breath. No one told me this was going to happen as I grew older. No one prepared me for the speediness of time. Of course, had they tried to tell me, I wouldn't have listened anyway. In my youth, I never paid much attention to time. I had an eternity of life ahead of me or so I believed.  But, we all believe that when we are young.  We are invincible, and nothing can touch us.  So we eat the wrong foods, wear the wrong shoes, and carry heavy bags over our shoulders, never once thinking ahead to the repercussions.

So, this will be a shopping and cooking weekend for me.  Have some new recipes to try and want to improve on my sodium free tomato and meat sauce.  Still a bit too tasteless for me.  Speaking of my diet, I've lost another two pounds.  That's 14 pounds so far, and I am actually beginning to have hips again.  Walking is getting better and better as well.  I can make it up the stairs without taking a couple of breaks or feeling as if I am going to pass out when I arrive at the top.  And despite the numerous maladies that have been turning up, life is certainly getting better every day.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend! May you find great joy in all you do.

  6. One of my favorite Oscar Wilde quotes is "Youth is Wasted on the young" and I also think that time is speeding up and I try and enjoy the moments knowing that one day I'll say the above quote when I'm older. Congrats on your weight loss and really taking care of yourself. I'm also trying to eat better, exercise a little more and it's paying off but going so slowly. Have a great weekend, Mary.
