Monday This and That

Good morning everyone. It's getting very intense here in the city. They say we should hit the apex within the next 7 days, and although that means the number of cases will begin to lessen after that, it also means there will be a lot of death around us this week. Oh my. I don't know how to begin explaining how it is here. Refrigerator trucks are lined up in front of hospitals because there are no room in the morgues. My God, will it ever end? It's eerie. We had to step out for some errands on Friday, and it was like an invisible enemy was surrounding us. Sometimes I feel like I am ready to break.

And the Hasidic Jews. What can I say? They just don't get it. Police have had to break up large weddings and other gatherings and last week there were thousands of them marching in the streets for the funeral of a Rabbi. I don't understand them. I read last week where a Rabbi said they think they are the chosen ones and the virus won't touch them. But it is. Parents are sick in the house and children are playing in the streets. They are dying . Their areas have the highest virus rates in the city. Why? Why? Why?

I've been getting meals from the senior center, and it's really been so helpful in more ways than one. Not only does it save me some money, but also offers hubby some lunches. I don't eat seafood so I give them to him. And these lunches have improved. Yesterday I had a Mediterranean Grain Bowl which included:

(Sorry it looks so sloppy. I was so hungry I started eating before remembering to take the picture)

Grilled honey chicken, brown basmati rice, black lentils, Eggplant, crumbled Feta, and pita wedge. As you can see, it was delicious.

No plans for today. Going to check out some zoom classes and do some reading.
Prayers for all and prayers for my city as we enter this crucial time.

  1. There is no understanding why people ignore the stay at home orders and congregate when they know they and their loved ones could die. They also keep this killer virus alive by spreading it to others.

Will your meals from the center continue to come during these next two weeks when things are supposed to be very bad? Stay safe and stay indoors and keep Zooming.

    1. The meals will continue until it's over. They want us to stay indoors.

    1. The exercise is really helping me. And zoom allows a chance to see and communicate with people.

  3. Sadly there are a number of churches here that also believe that the virus has no place in God's house. Their belief means that they continue services and continue to offer communion with a shared cup. Many of their congregation are elderly.
I am glad that the delivered meals help. Very glad.
    Take care, and stay safe.

    1. I just cannot understand how foolish people can be. My hubby's sister decided she wanted to get married during this and hubby was to be the best man. I was furious. Thankfully her daughter and hubby talked her out of it.

  5. People who go to large gatherings like that, whether it is for religious reasons or just because they want to, are dangerous at this time, because when they get the virus, their illness will affect so many others who don't share their beliefs, their ignorance will sicken and/or kill our medical workers, and other people. So if these people think they are so special that they should go against all common sense and still gather in huge groups and spread the virus, I have the right to believe that their "specialness" should protect them even after they get sick. Let them stay home and isolate themselves until/or if their beliefs save their lives, at home. Not in a hospital where they are putting other people in danger. Sorry if that sounds cold- hearted, but it is wrong to defy common sense and cause other people to die that wouldn't have needed to.

    1. I totally agree. They should be contained in their own area.

  6. Be safe, Mary.
We are fighting this horrible foe en masse, without knowing very much about it...and it is so frightening.😨
Try to stay positive, my friend...and hang on in there.

Sending you much love and hugs ❤❤❤

  7. Regardless of race, religious beliefs, or anything else, some people just do stupid things. My next door neighbors have had several bbq's with groups of friends and family there over the past weeks. Hard to understand.
