The River of Life

I've often said that time appears to be speeding up. Remember when you were young how long it took the holidays to arrive?   Now they come and go before we know it.  Now, we all know that time isn't actually speed up, at least that's what they say, but, by golly, it sure does feel that way. I've always wondered why.  I came across an interesting concept this morning I'd like to share with you.  I was reading "The Secret Life of Water" on the way to work today, and the author said, "Your life had meaning and you were so busy living that time was forgotten.  Then adulthood set in and you put those things away and locked the door."  Make you wonder about all those deadlines we have to face as adults.  It seems that time is always on our mind.

The more we live, more brief appear
     Our life’s succeeding stages:
A day to childhood seems a year,
     And years like passing ages.

The gladsome current of our youth,
     Ere passion yet disorders,
Steals lingering like a river smooth
     Along its grassy borders.

But as the careworn cheek grows wan,
     And sorrow’s shafts fly thicker,
Ye Stars, that measure life to man,
     Why seem your courses quicker?

When joys have lost their bloom and breath
     And life itself is vapid,
Why, as we reach the Falls of Death,
Feel we its tide more rapid?
It may be strange—yet who would change

     Time’s course to slower speeding,
When one by one our friends have gone
     And left our bosoms bleeding?
Heaven gives our years of fading strength
     Indemnifying fleetness;
And those of youth, a seeming length,
     Proportion’d to their sweetness.

  1. What a wonderful Halloween treat this page is.

Yes, I feel exactly the same way. With every year it seems that time is excellerated. I can
see my own life warping along at speed of light.

I think it is time for me to make a bucket list and try to accomplish as many wishes as I can manage crossed off my list.

Did I bring love to others ?
I am confident that I did.

    Did I find love ?

I have been lucky enough to be blessing with wonderful caring children, a husband who cared enough to make my life comfortable. I did love him very much indeed but he had a wandering eye and that was a great disappointment for me.

So I guess I have never found anyone to love me with the same joy as what I feel when I love.

    All and all
I am grateful for what I have been gifted.

    hugs and love Sharon
