Wishing You All a Very Special Weekend

Oh, Great Spirit
Whose voice I hear in the winds,
And whose breath gives life to all the world,
hear me, I am small and weak,
I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold
the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have
made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand the things
you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have
hidden in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.
Make me always ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset,
my Spirit may come to you without shame.

(translated by Lakota Sioux Chief Yellow Lark in 1887)
published in Native American Prayers - by the Episcopal Church.

The weekend is here, and I am thrilled to say a touch of fall is finally upon us.  There is a soft, refreshing chill in the air as summer draws to a close, and Mother Nature is beginning to prepare for a new season.  Soon the landscape will be adorned with a beautiful array of crisp colors of brown, orange, red, and gold...and just as we prepared for the season of birth and growth in the Spring, we now prepare for our time of rest and reflection.

This Sunday is National Women's Friendship Day.  The objective  of this day, is to promote special friendship among women. Just wanted to say to all the wonderful women I met here in the world of blogs...Thank you for being my friends.

Wishing you all a magical weekend filled with wonder and awe.

  1. There was a beautiful rainbow here last night. It was in front of the sunset. We stood outside watching it the entire time until it faded away. Felt like an official good ridance to Summer and a welcoming to Fall.

  6. Have a wonderful weekend too. It's cold here and I hate it! Down in the 40's overnight and our high today was only 53. Too cold for me and it's just the beginning.
Oh well, I do love the autumn colours, crisp apples, fiery leaves, bright orange pumpkins. It just takes a bit of time to get used to the temperature change.
    Hugs

  7. I am in Canada and it has turned colder the past week. It went from record highs to very cool overnight. The leaves are already falling
from the trees and I have moved my office into the spare bedroom.

Sylvester, the squirrel has gone to his bed early tonight. He loves to
sit in the tree facing me and listen to the music from the blogs,
    while he nibbles on tidbits.

    love the prayer.

    blessing and hugs to you
