The stories of childhood leave an indelible impression, and their author always has a niche in the temple of memory from which the image is never cast out to be thrown on the rubbish heap of things that are outgrown and outlived.-- Howard Pyle
I've always loved to read. It's so relaxing and therapeutic...as well as educational. Its entertaining. If you have young children, or elderly people in your home, take the time to read a book to them today. It is a wonderful time to bond with them and it creates pleasant, lasting memories. Sharing the joy of reading a book aloud to your child or to an elderly person who can no longer enjoy a good book is just one way you can help them experience the joy of reading.
And, with all this rain that is on its way, what better way to spend your day.
Books support us in our solitude and keep us from being a burden to ourselves. -- Jeremy Collier
I'm a book reader too.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a good week. (((hugs)))
That quotation from Howard Pyle is right on -- I have so many indelible memories of the great books I read as a child. What an impact they made!
ReplyDeleteREAD A BOOK Day! How super is that? :-)
ReplyDeleteI am so, so, so happy that I have pulled myself up out of the reading drought I found myself in, for too long. -sigh- One of those times when I just could not, not, not find a book, which interested me.
Of course, it had to be me. There are a million books out there, and some have to be wonderful, at any time. But for some reason, I was immune. -sighhhhhh-
So glad that has past!
And I'm a regular *reading machine* now! -grin-
Every day is Read a Book day for me. I can't imagine life without books!!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Mary.....I, too, love reading a good book. When I was younger it seemed as though I could never settle down enough to read one....in fact reading a magazine article was next to impossible. As I've gotten older, and calmer....I find that reading is indeed one of the greatest pleasures in life.
ReplyDeleteGood day to you.
xo

I read every day. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI usually have several books on the go at one time.
ReplyDeleteI move back and forth between them when time allows.
I had no idea there was a special day for reading a favorite book.
thanks for the heads up.
hugs and blessings Sharon
