Before and After

Wow, can't believe I am sitting here at work already.  Five days sure can go quickly.  With the constant rainy days, I didn't very get much accomplished, but I did learn that it is very easy for me to pull the covers back up and sleep the day away.  Did manage to get some sorting and tossing done.  Trying to prepare myself for a move....should it come. It's amazing how much junk one can accumulate.

I'd also forgotten why I gave up on going to the beauty parlor and began cutting my hair myself.  They never listen.  You show them a picture, and they do what they want anyway. Although my bangs were left longer than I wished, my new cut is much shorter than I had wanted, but I will admit, my head does feel free and easy without that heavy mass of hair...which, by the way, is on its way to make wigs for cancer patients.  That gives me a good feeling...the hair that was so hot, heavy, uncomfortable..and aging on me will help someone else feel better about themselves.    As promised, before and after pictures.

(Before)

(After)

No matter how you look at it, I take awful photos, always have. Actually, the hair cut itself looks better than the pictures.  But beauty is not in a picture; it is how you feel inside.  It is not something physical.  It reflects in your eyes.  If you have a good heart, that's all that matters.  William Butler Yeats knew and wrote about it in the following poem.

"NEVER shall a young man,
Thrown into despair
By those great honey-coloured
Ramparts at your ear,
Love you for yourself alone
And not your yellow hair.'
"But I can get a hair-dye
And set such colour there,
Brown, or black, or carrot,
That young men in despair
May love me for myself alone
And not my yellow hair.'
"I heard an old religious man
But yesternight declare
That he had found a text to prove
That only God, my dear,
Could love you for yourself alone
And not your yellow hair."
--William Butler Yeats--

  2. the new haircut looks great. I met a lot of people in my life that at first glance where physically beautiful but became less so the better i got to know them and vice versa. We put to much emphasis on the external and i think it doesn't always serve us well. There is so much more in a smile (like yours), kindness and warmth.

You look fabulous dahling! I really like the short hair...it suits you so well!! :)
I also think it's wonderful that your long locks went to someone else who will need them very much. You are such a dear. Have a beautiful day!

  5. Hooray for you!!! Yes my Dear, I can see how you "light up" in the After pic. Not so, in the Before. Yes, it's how we feel, that's the important part of every ding-dang-thing!

And having given your hair for cancer patients, that is soooooooo wonderful. As you said, it was weighing you down. But it will lift someone up. Wonderful.

As to pictures of self, very few can honestly say they LIKE their own pictures I think. The ones I show, came out the least-offensive to me. LOL. But still...

I'll get my hair fixed so it pleases me and cover up the spider veins on my cheeks and put on some lipstick, and feeel pretty goood. I even think I look pretty good, in the mirror.

    Then I take a picture...........

And a whole different looking woman shows up in the picture!!!!!!

    -sigh-

How come I can look in a mirror and not gag? And then take a pic of the same thing? And it does not look like me, to me? How come? How come? How come? Do I really look at myself some times, with such "rose-colored glasses" that reality and what-I-see are that different??? -sigh-

Enough... What counts today is that you are happy. And as to it being too short... It will grow. Oh yes,it will grow. Well before you think it is time to go back for a trim and a shape-up, I'm sure. "Murphy's Law"!

Ohhhh, and how about the nail polish? Remember that you said that nail polish was going to be part of *The New You*, too. :-)

  8. Wow! What a difference, and what a great way to make yourself feel better AND help others to do so also! It looks wonderful, easy, and cool. And you can wear fabulous earrings that get lost in long hair. I think you have to get a lot of bad haircuts before you find the one who will work with YOUR hair to find the best cut, but you have to keep going back to the one with the most potential and work with him/her to get it right. Been there.

  10. Aww, you're much braver than I. Love your new look, it's good to finally SEE you! If I didn't trim the ends of it, I could sit on mine. Ya, someday I'll grow up and cut it...maybe :) Just continue to be the beautiful you, no matter what your hair looks like..
