Time is a flowing river. Happy those who allow themselves to be carried, unresisting, with the current. They float through easy days. They live, unquestioning,in the moment.--Christopher Morley
Summer is no more than a mere memory, and before we know it, winter will be upon us...as the wheel turns and the cycles flow from one to the other. Life is all about seasons and cycles and moving from one thing to another...and much of our discontent comes from not recognizing this never-ending cycle. When something goes away, such as our youthful appearance , we mourn that loss or feel a great deal of frustration, instead of looking forward to the new opportunities that have come into our lives. When we recognize this and allow things to be part of our lives for their seasons, it makes them so much more special and enjoyable, for we recognize that they will soon be gone, so we get all we can from them while we have them. Let's enjoy what we have, while we have it, and then bid it a fond farewell when it leaves us, either for a time or for good.
There is a world of wonder that swirls around each and every season of our lives, but usually we don't seem to notice. Sometimes it is because we are too young , or perhaps we find ourselves too busy as we go about our daily lives, or it just might be that we are too old to take notice, but, we do have a choice, and if we choose to take the time to notice, we will surely see that there are life enhancing things in each season of our life and being mindful of the privileges of our particular season of life brings around good energy, which probably contributes to longevity...
....and no matter season of life we may be in--spring, summer, fall, or winter-- we all always evolving and growing although we may not take notice. And we will all will experience trials in our lives, but we must move through them for these same storms are how we gains wisdom and strength for just as the branches on the trees are meant to withstand heavy winds and snows, so are we also meant to have the same strength within us and remain steadfast and strong. We are never given more than we can handle.
Seasons come and go...Such is life. As we mature and gain wisdom over time, we pass this same wisdom on to our loved ones in hopes that they will learn from our mistakes as well as our achievements for wisdom is meant to be shared with others. It's not until you've passed from season to season, that you're able to acquire such insight. But, oh the wealth of knowledge gained is priceless.
The Human Seasons
Four Seasons fill the measure of the year;
There are four seasons in the mind of man:
He has his lusty Spring, when fancy clear
Takes in all beauty with an easy span:
He has his Summer, when luxuriously
Spring's honied cud of youthful thought he loves
To ruminate, and by such dreaming high
Is nearest unto heaven: quiet coves
His soul has in its Autumn, when his wings
He furleth close; contented so to look
On mists in idleness--to let fair things
Pass by unheeded as a threshold brook.
He has his Winter too of pale misfeature,
Or else he would forego his mortal nature.
--John Keats--

Life is one big learning experience.
ReplyDeleteYou can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
I'm in a funk today. :0(
I really think I'm going through a season Mary... a time for contemplation about changing things up a bit for me. I'm opening up my arms to embrace what inevitably is coming...change is always in the air, is it not? I've had a good bit of 'me' time but still feel the need to sit quietly and listen to my heart and that of Mother/Father God whispering in my ear. It has been good, feels good too!
ReplyDeleteHere's wishing for you a time of rejuvenation!
To everything, turn, turn, turn...
Bless you Sister/Friend! :)
The past few weeks have been ever changing for me. My priorities are a little different than they were a year ago. Welcoming the new season!
