Taking the Day Off

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival;
a joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and attend them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows
who violently sweep your house empty
of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honourable.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the same, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each guest has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring. Took the day for some much needed rest and recuperation...taking care of self. It's raining, a perfect day to stay in bed, and believe me, that's where I have been for most of the morning.  Had such a fitful night. I will share about it, but today is not the day.  Reading, eating, and sleeping. Almost finished with Eat, Pray, and Love and will be forever indebted to Mother Moon for turning me onto it. And speaking of being indebted.  I wish to thank Spirit Phoenix  for choosing me as the winner of her Birthday Giveaway.  She was one of the first people I met here on Blogland.  Check out her blog.

Got my new set of runes yesterday and a workbook to go with them and now I am off to get to know them.  Hoping you all have a wonderful weekend.  Be back tomorrow.

  2. Isn't Eat, Pray, Love incredible? For a while I swear it was one of my many bibles.
I am sooo very glad to hear you took some time to rest Mary...you sound like you really need to, and what better way on a rainy day, than staying cozy doing the things which please you! Your new Runes and book sound delightful...hope you enjoyed playing with them and feeling their energies.
Have a supremely restful and rejuvenating night in The Dreamlodge!
    Love and Blessings Dear One!

  3. And.....what a beautiful sleep in day it was.
Love to listen to the rain as I fall asleep and that's exactly what my afternoon nap was like.
    Thumbs Up!
Glad to hear you had the kind of day you needed.

  4. Sounds just like the kind of day I need. Hope you enjoyed it. I took the day recuperating from a minor surgery but got too antsy sitting around and got up and made some granola and a peach galette. Then I crashed again. But later as the skies cleared I enjoyed the cooler air as I ate a slice of the galette.
