The
best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your
eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just
before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common
work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the
sweetest things in life.
Robert Louis Stevenson
Not only are they nearest...but those best things in life are usually free!!! Just like that beautiful flower!
ReplyDeleteExactly, like my days in the park. I don't spend anything aside from bus fare, but it's the best feeling climbing that hill and looking down on the water.
DeleteWhat a perfect rose!
ReplyDeleteYes, I found it on the way to the park.
DeleteBeautiful rose and an even more beautiful quote! There are times in our lives when we all need to just "stop and smell the roses!" ;)
ReplyDeleteRetirement has helped me with that. When I was working it was all rush, rush, rush, but that's how the city is. Everybody rushing to get to work. I don't have to rush anymore....although I will say it was a bad habit to break.
DeleteIt is lovely having the time to see the roses isn't it? To see and smell them. While I was working I am not sure I even saw them very often...
ReplyDeleteSame here. It was such a hassle getting to work, rushing, fighting crowds. The city during the morning rush is maddening.
DeleteWonderful quote..very inspiring! and such a gorgeous rose, what a beauty!
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice reminder to appreciate what we have in this life!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
