Friday Roundup

Good Friday morning.  The end of another busy week.  Monday was a bit of a flop.  Love my wellness class and it was canceled because the facilitator was absent so I sat around for that hour reading, doing a crossword puzzle, and chatting.  My friends were not there so I was pretty much on my own, and it's a hard thing to bust into the little cliques that were already formed.  So a bit of polite conversation was about it.  But there was a fantastic lunch so it was all worth it.

Made this with some of my new beads.

Tuesday the cold winds of winter had returned, and I had run to do the rest of my banking.  Bills must be paid this week. Finished off the last of my birthday cake and promised myself that would be the end of the poor eating habits I have had lately.  Time to get back on track, but not on the scale...not yet.  Going to take me two weeks to lose what I put on.

Wednesday was a bit of a disappointment.  The new Food for Life class was supposed to be held at 10 am so I rushed to get there in time, only to find out that they had changed the time to 1:30.  I'd already made plans to have our laundry picked up after 1 pm so I couldn't stay.  And lunch was supposed to be Chicken Parmesan but they served chicken cacciatore instead.

Not that I'm complaining.  It was very good...and the veggies were out of this world--had a teriyaki flavor-- but when you have your heart set on some stringy melted mozzarella....well you know how it is.  Fortunately, the Holistic Medicine class did take place.

Got some good reading material on Thursday.  Found the magazine in the Rite Aid across the street from WW, and found the book waiting for me when I got back home.  So much to keep me busy this weekend.

And so, here we are.  Friday.  It's off to classes soon.  Pet Bereavement this morning.  My little girl passed a few years back, but the pain lingers.  I never did get to process my loss.  Hubby loved her, but he just doesn't understand....and at the time I was attending another senior center.  I'm with tears in my eyes and people are telling me. "Just think of the money you will save," and "she was only a cat."  Can you believe how cruel some people can be.?  Will be good to be able to talk about it with people who understand.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Thursday Odds and Ends

This was the first succulent I received in my subscription box.  I just canceled it because I've already received 4 and aside from the last one, none are doing very well.  I don't think it's me...but who knows.

Chick pea salad.  So yummy.

Me and my great granddaughter two Christmases ago.  She is such a little love.

I know I have asked this before, but do you see anything in this cloud?

This is my dad and his twin.  This picture has to be almost 90 years old.

My son, daughter, and myself.

My little napping gnome.

One of the little bracelets I made awhile back.

About two years ago.  I was still a blonde back then.

Outside of my church last spring.  Looking forward to this year.

This was my zumba class when I was going to downtown Brooklyn.  Doesn't look like I'll be making it back there again.  It's okay though.  I do miss the friends and trainers that I met there, but I'm having fun at the new center as well.

This is the Mermaid Parade at Coney Island.  Anything goes.

Another picture of the Mermaid Parade.  I missed it last year, but definitely going to make it this year.  Folk singer Arlo Guthrie and his daughter, Nora, are the king and queen this year.  Back in the 60's folk music was my thing. It still is.  Lots of memories. Who can forget "Alice's Restaurant?"

Walk right in, it's around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track
You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant

Tuesday Ramble.

Good Tuesday morning.  Had a good Monday despite wellness class being canceled for the day.  Does one good to just sit and socialize for awhile.  Just do nothing but chat.  Lunch was awesome.  Beef goulash, mashed potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, an orange, orange juice, and low fat milk.  I had taken a picture of it, but it didn't take on my phone.  It's been doing that lately, and by the time I discovered that despite the flash going off the picture wasn't there, it was too late because I'd already cleaned up my plate.  No dinner last night.  Only some fruit.

Took these photos the other night

Thought this was awesome.  It was about 6 pm and clouds were beginning to cover the sun.

The Verrazano Bridge.  It's awesome in person.

As you may know, I do online surveys to make some extra bucks.  it's time consuming and money is low, but I managed to put together enough money for Christmas shopping the year before and already have made over a hundred dollars this year.  Sometimes, too, I take a rather cheap paying survey which turns out to be something more....like the time they called me in for an in-person focal group and I made $200 for 30 minutes....or a few weeks ago when I made $45 for an online survey about some new lottery cards.  At this time I am testing a new foundation.  I love, love, love it.  Hope they tell me what it is when the test is done because I will definitely buy it.

A late birthday gift arrived for me from my son's girlfriend, Tahnee.  She knows me like a book.

The box is so nice that I am planning to do something with it.

And inside were 12 spring scented votive candles.

Started reading a new book.  Hope it  does me some good.  My eating is getting out of control.  Not good after coming so far.

If anyone eats mindlessly it's me.  I can finish my plate in 5 minutes...and then, of course, I am still hungry because my brain hasn't had a chance to process it.  This book opens the mind to how important it is to nourish every aspect of our life — not just our physical body.  Love that there are after chapter check-ins and opportunities to keep me on track.

Have a good one.

Monday This and That

Another week begins.  Good Monday morning.  Had a busy weekend starting on Friday when I went to the bead show in Manhattan.  Oh my gosh.  As you can see, I was like a kid in a candy store.  Spent way more than I had planned, but I had no willpower.

Had an awful ride there and back though.  On the ride in there were four of us all squeezed into a little cab...and all the way in we in the back seat were not only so cramped we couldn't move, but felt something hitting our back the entire way. Going home should have been better as one of us left early and took the subway, but the cab driver said we had to cram into the back seat because he had someone else to pick up. Grrr!!!! What if our friend hadn't left early? What then? The fact is Access-a-ride did not send the proper size vehicle for going there and overbooked on the way home. Never again....at least not in Access-a-ride.

My loot from Friday.  Don't know where to begin.

Woke up Saturday, my birthday, with pain all through my body.  Not a part of me didn't ache.  Yup, I turned 72 years old this weekend.  I'm getting to be a real oldster...and my body is letting me know.  Can't do all the things I did in my youth.

My daughter gave me this lovely necklace.  My son had sent me $50 to spend at the bead show.  And hubby gave me money.  Of course, I had expected the money so I spent it before I even got it so this will all go to the bills.

On Sunday hubby took me to Olive Garden, and I pigged out.  Hey, we only get one birthday a year so might as well make the best of it.  Have 363 days now til my next one.

And delicious cake with a birthday song.  What more can a gal ask for?

Saturday Quote

When nature made the blue-bird she wished to propitiate both the sky and the earth, so she gave him the color of the one on his back and the hue of the other on his breast.
